In April 2010, Sara Bella* Upcycled taught a workshop in San Pancho, Mexico. Locals and visitors who participated learned how to fuse plastic bags with an iron to create a strong fabric-like material. The heavy plastic material was used to sew beautiful purses, bags and anything the group could think of.
All the participants, from children to grandmothers, were happy and enthusiastic to master a new skill that could enable them to create products that could be sold for extra income.
